Membership in The Saturday Music Club
Benefits to Members
Members have an opportunity to:
- Gain performance experience
in our regular meetings and in our philanthropic program.
- Further their own musical
knowledge through attendance at our lecture-recitals and public
concerts.
- Bring music to others through
performances at hospitals, nursing homes, retirement villages and the
like.
- Encourage musical interests
of young people through The Saturday Music Club scholarship.
- Contribute to the advancement
of music on the State and National levels through the Ohio and National Federations of
Music Clubs.
Membership Obligations
Members
are expected to support the Club through:
- Performance
- Attendance
- Service on Executive Board
and Committees
- Service as hosts or hostesses
- Payment of annual dues ($20
for regular dues; $15 for student or senior dues)

Performance

- Two
selections by composers representing two different musical periods — at
least one of the two from memory
Instrumental Performance: Strings, Wind, Brass
(by audition)
- Two concert
selections by composers representing two different musical periods — at
least one of the two from memory
Keyboard Performance (by audition)
- Piano: Two
concert selections by composers representing two different musical
periods — at least one of the two from memory
- Organ and
harpsichord: Two concert selections by composers representing two
different musical periods
Keyboard Accompaniment (by audition)
- One prepared
accompaniment with a soloist of your choice
- One
sight-read accompaniment
Vocal Ensemble
- Three years
of choral experience
- Letter of
recommendation from a Club member with knowledge of your ability
Instrumental Ensemble
- Three years
of instrumental ensemble experience
- Letter of
recommendation from a Club member with knowledge of your ability
Musicology (regular membership only)
Education (regular membership only)
- Letter
giving evidence of training and proficiency in Categories 7 and 8,
submitted to the Board by the applicant
Music Appreciation (regular membership only)
- Letter
expressing interest in becoming a member of The Saturday Music Club,
submitted to the Board by the applicant
